A meeting and a pilot seminar had shown results from Tempus project team for public in Odesa city

     In Odesa city (15-16 of May) the meeting of the project partners took place, aiming discuss details of planned activities among IT-students in the fourth quarter 2014 and the first half 2015. Draft of Regulations on conducting contest among start-ups in software products and in IT ideas were presented during the meeting. Meeting members agreed and accepted a set of decisions that help to present the draft of Regulations for approval to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in the most optimal way.

    The contest among start-ups in software products and in IT ideas directed in raising motivations and skills for student of all years in developing start-ups. Raising student' skills level and help in design their IT-ideas will be performed also with involving European experts from outstanding universities and companies.

Mr. Dmytro Shymkiv, general manager at Microsoft Ukraine and one of the best top-managers in Ukraine (according to information of the international business magazine “Invest-Ukraine”) delivered a lecture on IT innovations to students of Lviv Polytechnic National University, his alma mater. This event took place on April, 11th, 2014 in the context of the project “The fifth class” coordinated by Lviv local group of BEST that is a non-profit non-political organization.

Functioning of most popular business incubators in Ukraine. Comparative analysis.

Today there are more than 4,000 officially registered business incubators. Most of them are in the USA - from 850 to 1100. In Western Europe - 800. In Ukraine - just over 20, but actively developing.

However, only about 10 of them actually work. In particular: Bilotserkivskiy, Slavutich Ternopil, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Donetsk, Kharkiv.

Using statistics, about 1/3 of created companies survive independently. But who take care among business incubators tend to become successful over 85% of the participants.

The incubation period of firm-client continues usually 2-3 years.

Business incubators as a places for the establishment of small enterprises have emerged in the late 50-ies of XX century (USA). The first project was made by an American sociologist.

The idea seemed primitive: sociologist rented cheaply the old station, divided it into small rooms, hired qualified staff (lawyer and economist) and cheap rented offices for beginning a small business.

The results exceeded expectations. If usually of 100 businessmen reduced to nearly 12, whereas the business incubator almost 30% of them successfully moved from small to medium businesses, and a significant number have successfully captured a specific niche market.

Regional Seminars for Teachers on Enhancing of IT-students Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Ukraine

From 16 to 23 May 2014 in Ukraine there will be organized regional seminars for university teachers working with creative students in the IT field, as well as the managers and coordinators involved in innovation activities in universities.

May 16 - Odessa.

May 23 - Lviv, Kharkiv , Vinnitsa.

The objectives of the seminars are to accept and understand the results and planned activities of the project and involve Ukrainian university teachers to participate in the national eco-system of student innovation.

The Tempus Project Creates New Preconditions of Education Development in a Sphere of Information Technologies

The Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics in March 20, 2014 held VII International business forum about “Problems and prospects of development of innovation activity in Ukraine”.

In this meeting participated Ilona Revenchuk (Kharkiv), Oleksandr Martinuk (Odessa) consortium partners of Tempus project “National Education Framework for Enhancing IT Students’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship” NEFESIE.

The purpose of the meeting is to consolidate the intellectual resources to accelerate innovation development of Ukraine on the basis of partnership and cooperation between entrepreneurs, investors, government, scientists and educators.

International cooperation increases entrepreneurship and business innovations in Ukraine

The Tempus project promotes IT innovation and entrepreneurship in Ukraine. The list of the program’s partners includes Linneaus University, Sigma, IKEA, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Dublin City University (Ireland), Oxford Brooks University (UK), Pedro Nunes Institute (Portugal) and five Ukrainian universities.

The project “National Education Framework for Enhancing IT Students’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship” (NEFESIE)aims to establish sustainable cooperation between academic IT programs, research expertise and business innovation for Ukraine. The program started in October 2012 and will end in October 2015. European Commission allocated €1 million to theproject. The NEFESIE program is coordinated by the Linnaeus University (Växjö, Sweden). Coordination in Ukraine is managed by Kharkiv National University of Radioelectronics.

The first day in Dublin

 

After arriving in the Dublin city, the Ukrainian delegation took a decision to discuss the situation connected with the Tempus project. A set of different opinions were advanced. The members of Ukrainian delegation accepted a number of approaches aimed to improve the web site appearance. First of all, we accepted the most optimal way representation of web page with results. All constructive opinions were taken for accomplishment.
