Institute Pedro Nunes

Created in 1991 through a University of Coimbra initiative, Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) is a private non-profit organisation which promotes innovation and the transfer of technology, establishing the connection between the scientific and technological environment and the production sector.

Mission

To leverage a strong university - enterprise relationship for the promotion of innovation, rigor, quality and entrepreneurship in private and public sector organisations by acting in three complementary areas:
Research and technological development, consultancy and specialised services;
Incubation and acceleration of businesses and ideas;
Highly specialised training and promotion of science and technology

Startup Lisboa

As Lisbon’s top incubator, Startup Lisboa supports the creation of companies and track their first years of activity. Founded in 2011 by the Lisbon Municipality, Bank Montepio and IAPMEI – Portuguese Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation IP, provides entrepreneurs and companies – from tech, commerce and tourism – with office space as well as a support structure, to maximize their chances for success. Mentoring, link to strategic partners, access to angel investors, venture capital or loan funds, help with business basics, networking activities, communication and work spaces. Startup Lisboa is the place to be, when it comes to hit success.

 

Beta-i

Based in Lisbon, Beta-i is a non-profit association created in 2010, with the mission to improve entrepreneurship through 3 main acting principles: create and boost a  network of entrepreneurship, accelerate startups with global ambition and facilitate their access to investment, create space, services and products focused on startups.

Beta-i was considered the biggest startup & entrepreneurship promoter in Europe by the European Enterprise Promotion Awards in June 2014. Our events are the largest startup gatherings in Portugal and include Explorers Festival, Seedcamp Lisbon, Silicon Valley Comes to Lisbon, Sandbox Lisbon, Startup Weekend and the first TEDx in Portugal. We are mostly known for being the organisation behind Lisbon Challenge, one of the most international accelerators in Europe.

Overall, Beta-i has received 2,700+ applications over 3,5 years, and accelerated over 430 startups, of which 130 are active.

Our institutional partners include Câmara Municipal de Lisboa, the Presidency of the Portuguese Republic, the Government of Portugal and the European Commission. Corporate partners include Caixa Geral de Depósitos, Turismo de Portugal, KIC InnoEnergy, IEFP, EDP and Microsoft, among many others.

 

 

Lisbon Challenge

Lisbon Challenge is an ambitious 10 week acceleration program aimed at eager international tech startups in prototype or product phase, looking for a truly innovative and empowering experience. It aims to offer consistent methods and resources for startups acceleration.

Top Results: Our 160 alumni startups have raised over 50 million euros, we got 3 alumni at YCombinator and 7 at Seedcamp, and 40% of alumni got invested.

In each edition, top teams have the chance to meet with 200 international mentors & investors as well as participate in workshops, pitch sessions and networking events. In an international environment, you will boost your network, learn from each other and progress on a weekly basis.

The program will be concluded with the Demo Day (fall batch)/Investors Day (spring batch) where you will get the chance to pitch and demo your startup to a crowd of investors, partners and startups
